Borough Market - a photo tour
Nothing beats a stroll around one of London’s food markets. The photos below are from a recent trip to the daddy of them all, Borough Market. If you can handle the throngs of people, there are numerous gems to discover. This market prides itself on the fact that many of its stallholders are themselves the producers. This shines through in the passion with which the sellers talk about their products.
It’s always a good idea to make your trip at a time when you can enjoy the plentiful freshly cooked food that is ready to eat. Be it paella, a burger, curry or a comforting pie, the delicious aromas coming from these stalls are too good to just pass by. If you make the trip on a weekday, many suited office workers can be spotted at lunchtime picking up a bite. What a luxury to be able to shun a sandwich for the diversity of Borough Market!
Be prepared for crowds!
Cheese lovers' heaven. There were so many different and delicious-looking cheeses to choose from, it could have been a bit overwhelming. Luckily the stallholder was more than willing to share his incredible knowledge and some samples of his wares.
The fish stall is incredible, so much variety and all perfectly fresh looking.
One of the many stalls offering freshly prepared food, ready to eat. The seafood thai green curry on the left above is one to make a return visit for.
A wheatgrass shot tastes so unpleasant it MUST be good for you.
Something sweet to finish off with. Who could say no? This stall probably had the biggest crowd surrounding it.
